Old clothes, poetry, music and the beauty of the natural world inspire me to be present and yet transcend time at the same time. Every day in each moment we have the opportunity to create magic in myriad ways and for me clothing is such a deep part of that. What character do I feel today? What am I going to make and give to the world? An outfit in itself can be a work of art...I guess that is what is meant by style...how we collage together clothes out of how we feel emotionally and physically. It is magic really, the creation of a beautiful illusion that we present to the world that affects those around us. The ability to create is one of the greatest gifts we have as human beings, so in my small way I hope by offering wonderful clothes and old goods I can inspire those who come across my shop to dream their dreams and create their own magic.

WE ARE STARDUST, WE ARE GOLDEN~Mountain Girl Collection

This collection is like the poppies blooming all over my yard right now, just bursting forth with color and natural beauty. As I got home and was looking at the photos, I suddenly got Joni Mitchell singing her song Woodstock in my head and realized that clothes always express a certain feeling for me and this collection certainly evokes for me the idea that we must get back to the garden, even if just for a few moments each day, for there is the place that we reconnect with our true selves as well as to nature and its spirit. I truly believe that nature is the great healer and in remembering and celebrating our inner connectedness to that we may not only heal ourselves but our amazing planet as well.

Woodstock by Joni Mitchell

I came upon a child of God

He was walking along the road

And I asked him, "Where are you going?"

And this he told me...

I'm going on down to Yasgur's Farm,

I'm gonna join in a rock and roll band.

I'm gonna camp out on the land.

I'm gonna get my soul free.

We are stardust.

We are golden.

And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden.

Then can I walk beside you?

I have come here to lose the smog,

And I feel to be a cog in something turning.

Well maybe it is just the time of year,

Or maybe it's the time of man.

I don't know who I am,

But you know life is for learning.

We are stardust.

We are golden.

And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden.

By the time we got to Woodstock,

We were half a million strong

And Everywhere there was song and celebration.

And I dreamed I saw the bombers

Riding shotgun in the sky,

And they were turning into butterflies

Above our nation.

We are stardust.

Billion year old carbon.

We are golden..

Caught in the devil's bargain

And we've got to get ourselves back to the garden.

  1. Inspiring indeed...!

I'd love to see a nostalgia post from the early 90's or Niandra LaDes era or just anything like that if you have the time to share some of that of course! I'm such a fan of nostalgic things and because of your artistic nature I can imagine that you have some visual gems from that time. That would be beyond awesome anyway :)

May the blossoming spring-going-on-summer treat your spirit well! xoxo

  2. I have loved this song for as long as I can remember!!!!! I love hearing Joni sing it, and Cosby, Stills and Nash: perfect music to add to the ambiance of these beautiful outfits! My favorites are the Mountain Girl Maxi dress and the Fair Maiden Maxi dress. But they are all so lovely, it is hard to pick! :)
